Studio Paran, a flourishing glassblowing workshop in Madison, WI, is recognized nationally for its successful combination of traditional methods and innovative design. The creative partnership between Jones and Mark Lorenzi ’87 [Glass] (who has since left the company) began in RISD’s Glass department, where the artists met and discovered an affinity for strong contemporary design and bold use of color. Since its founding in 1989 Studio Paran has made functional and artistic vessels, striving to design work that is “unique, affordable and elegant,” says Jones. “Using traditional techniques to produce glass in limited amounts allows us to concentrate on imbuing each piece with the qualities of attention, grace and studied elegance.”
